Question about acetaminophen - Pain Management Message Board

Hello All

I am building up an immunity to Acemetaphine and currently taking anywhere from 2-3 g of it at a time to treat migraines. (Only once a day, maybe 3-4 times/week) My question is if I am doing any short term or long term damage to my liver?

Also, what is the damage to my liver in this amount as compared to alcohol? In other words, I have friends that may drink a 6 pack 4 nights a week, and I tell them they're doing more damage to themselves than I am with the acemetaphine....

Any help is really appreciated. Thanks all

are you talking about actual tylenol or a totally different drug with that particular name?when it comes to spelling any med names,any misspellings can make it something completely different,but i am thinking this is tylenol we are talking about?please correct me if i am wrong,just a bit confusing for me here.thanks,Marcia

The max daily dose of acetaminophen (Tylenol) is 4,000 mg. That would be 8 max strength tabs per day. Any more than that and you're risking liver damage.

I worry about my liver because percocet is acemetaphine partly and for the past two years I've taken alot of it after my accident. I still take it but not as much as my doc prescribed oxycontin..long acting percocet, I believe. I'm glad you posted.
