to my understanding Codeine is a schedule 3 drug when mixed with tylenol ie: tylenol 3, it is a schedule 2 drug by itself ( there is no codeine only meds in the USA currently) Oxycontin is schedule 2 mixed with tylenol (percocet) and still a schedule 2 when in its LA form "OxyContin". Oxycontin is still oxycontin when processed in the body (for the most part) but Codeine is actually turned into morphine in the liver Before it goes to work on your pain (this is called a pro drug at this point) but at a MUCH reduced mg than taking straight morphine pills. IMO Oxycontin is much stronger on a per mg basis than codeine but also depends on how your body tolerates and what your body "prefers" to help you. I hope this helps some and pls feel free to correct me if I am wrong in any of this but I believe it to be correct.

God Bless and good luck!

I noticed that you are from Canada. Do they have something up there called codeine contin? Here in the US we have:

oxycodone + acetaminophen = Percocet
oxycodone (long acting) = Oxycontin
hydrocone + acetaminophen = Vicodin
codeine + acetaminophen = Tylenol 3

Percocet is stronger than Vicodin which is stronger than TYlenol 3. Hope that info helps.

Re: codeine contin

150mg codeine = 10mg - 15mg oxycodone = 2 or 3 (5/500 Percocet)

I don't know about codeine contin but this is for straight codeine so I imagine it is the same.

Re: codeine contin

I'm from Canada and have never heard of anything called codeine contin. You can get straight codeine but its not prescribed much up here like that, mainly rx'd as tylenol 3, and its short acting therefore can't be a contin.
