Re: Ankle Block Injection

What are you having the ankle block injection for?
Are you talking about the block an ortho surgeon uses before he operates on the ankle?

My podiatrist diagnosed me with CRPS (complex reginal pain syndrome). Having alot of pain in my ankle/foot from a bad sprain almost 2 wks ago. He said the injection is called a local anesthetic block.

Talking Re: Ankle Block Injection

How could your podiatrist say that you have CRPS which is the same as RSD. You said that the injury only happened 2 weeks ago? It takes quite some time for a sprain to heal, sometimes a month or so. I would try taking it easy on the ankle, get a brace at any drug store (cvs, walgreens,etc.). I would also suggest elevating the foot as much as possible and alternating ice and heat on the affected ankle. Are you on anything for the pain? Are you on anything for inflammation. You should definitely be on an anti-inflammatory and possibly a steroid short term (like the medrol pack).

The problem with being on pain killers for a sprain is that you can do more damage if too much of the pain is being controlled. You think that things are getting better because you don't feel very much pain and then have a tendency to overdo things and make the injury worse. Can you give us some more information so we can help you more.

Brian
