Quick history, wc took my pm and primary dr.'s away. They want me to see a dr. in "their network". I tried to see one on their list, but he didn't want to see me. Well, in the past couple of weeks I've had to go to the E.R. because no other dr. would see me because it's a wc case. The only thing they did for me is give me the medication I was taking and then told to see my dr. I don't see what wc gains from me going to an E.R.. It's a total waste of time and money. I'm sure I'll be hearing from them soon. I was perfectly fine with my other dr.'s. We were making progress with my condition and now it seems they want to play games. Oh well, life goes on.
Hey Micheal, Please don't shoot the mesenger but your going to have to see a comp doc. Just call the carrier and tell tem you need an alternative doc. Your going to be seen as the one that's being stubborn and they will simply cut off payments and force you financially to comply. It's that or nothing. What makes you any different than any other comp case in there eyes. Eventuallly your insurance wor comp won't cover ER trips and you will have to comply or pay out of pockeet, stubborness will only hurt you and you have no reason to start this as a battle. There is plenty of time for that should you have real problems and need surgery and extended time off to recover. You right, it's not saving them money, but it's not getting you any answers and it may cost you your pay not just meedical expecnses from unauthorized providors if there is an alternative to the one doc.
Been there and nobopdy wins with comp. Your lucky to be taken care of, thereis nio money for pain or suferring unless there was neglegence on the companies fault.
Take care, Dave
Thanks for the reply, I'm not being stubborn. I'm waiting for a wc pm dr. to call. I needed medical care and had no dr. to see. I was told by my attorney if I had to see a dr. I was to go to the E.R. because wc would make a fuss about seeing a doctor that is not on their list. I hadn't had such pain since I was recovering from surgery. There is no way I'm going to be waiting for their dr. to call. It took me 10 minutes just to get into the shower.
Sounds like your attorney has a "plan" and knows how to fight WC. This kind of stuff really irks me....Same with insurance companies. The whole industry needs an overhaul if you ask me.
Good luck, and I'm sorry your in such a bind....Especially since everything was going well. If the ER will treat you, I'd keep going....Your fortunate that they do....Some won't treat pain patients....But since you have a very valid case history as to why you are there, then they will probably continue to script you meds.
