| Re: New LA formulation
I've been following this one too.
Apparently the oxycodone is mixed into a viscous gel that is very difficult to crush, inject, whatever, and get anything better out of it than if just taken by mouth.
However, the stock of the manufacturer, King Pharmaceuticals, recently dropped on word that another LA oxy product from Purdue Pharma LP may get to market almost a year ahead of Remoxy. So it's still uncertain if Remoxy will make it to market.
I was a little disappointed to read the Phase III testing description. Apparently it was only tested at doses from 10-80mg daily. For many CP patients, required doses are higher. If not tested at higher doses it will be very difficult to get the FDA to allow the med to be used for those who require higher doses. I don't think that bodes well for this drug.
The good news is that there are even more new opioid drug candidates in various trials that may get to market in the next two to five years. Mostly of the abuse resistant variety.
