some "pain meds' get mtabolized thru the liver and some thru the kidneys or in some cases it is kind of a sort of 50/50 type deal. it all depends on what you are referring to as a "class/type" of pain meds. they can be alot of different types of meds depending upon your pain and what is being used to try and manage it. if any med has tylenol in it,it almost always breaks down in the liver more than kidney. but then again,everything you take at some point WILL get at least filtered thru the kidneys while not everything actually will metabolize/break down within the liver itself(it will however at least make one pass thru it by blood supply). it all comes down to just what actual 'pain med' you are taking. hope i didn;t confuse you more. it would be helpful if like juliet mentioned,you could be more specific in what you are asking.
