Update On POP an feedback about a mistake my MOM made?

Hi everyone, just wanted to give a little update on my Pop.He had the MRI an we don't know yet what it is but he did get a call from his Nurse Practioner, she said there is a suspious spot on his lumbar spine an was waiting on the radiologist report. Now we are really scared an confused since they said the bone scan showed NO CANCER.So Pop's pain is just getting worse an he has been running a fever which would seem to be sign of infection somewhere. He is taking 4 10mg Percocet a day so the tylonol in them is keeping his fever down somewhat.SO My Mom call's me really upset an said she didn't give him his 2pm pain pill but gave it to him at 6pm.So he starts running a fever 102 an she was on the phone with me asking what to do.He goes to bed about 730pm but he had been in bed all day feeling bad an wanted his nite medicine.Well without thinking about it my Mom gave him his nite meds which are in a pill divider for morn, noon, nite. So he ended up taking another percocet. Now she is frantic because she accidently ended up giving him 2 percs. within hour an half.I'm no doctor but hope he'll be OK.What do ya;ll think? It's 9pm now an I told her to call me back if any problems. She probally won't sleep all nite with worry an feels awful for not giving it to him at 2pm.She has been through so much trying to take care of him.I wish I could have said it would be OK but honestly I don't know how 2 10mg pers. would do him.Sorry so long but wanted to explain it best I could.Back to his MRI an what it found,,I wonder if you run fever when you have cancer.I can't recall him having a fever with his bladder cancer.Just any feedback would be helpful..Thanks Babycakes

It is really hard for us to give advice on this not knowing personally your fathers tolerance to meds or his size and or other health problems. I would call your pharmicist and/or doctor to get their opinion on it.

I don't want to scare you; however, I would also watch his respirations throughout the night to be on the safe side. Pain medications can slow down your breathing considerable.

Re: Update On POP an feedback about a mistake my MOM made?

thanks all,,Gosh what a nite for my Mom but Pop did fine with the extra med, think he may have slept bit harder because he has to wear a bladder bag after losing his bladder to cancer an he always hooks it up,,he must not had it on tight enough an it sping quite a leak,he was wrapped up in his covers this morn when Mom went to get him an he didn't realize he was all wet an sheets wet.Mom had to bath him best she could but thankfully he is OK from that one problem. His fever is staying about 100 an I know without the percs. it would be higher.I wish the VA would hurry up an tell us something,I'm afraid as each day passes an him getting worse that Mom is going to have to call rescue to take him to hospital.I can't believe this started back in Feb. and the MRI has showed something but we have to sit an wait for them to call an worry an wonder an watch him go down.Oh anyway sorry again for long post.I just know they could treat his pain better. My brother an I have both tried to get him to go to hospital here in our town but he wants to wait on the VA hospital to help him.But Thanks again for the replys.Babycakes
