Going to try meds 3 times aday - can you advise on the way to split them

Would love for someone to readover and maybe comment and suggest a better way in making these work at taking the meds 3 times aday rather than twice aday.

Taking 35mg Amytriptlyne
Taking 30mg Oxycontin

Taking the above in the morning and night.

I tend to run out of steam and get quite sore around the 4 O'clock mark and then after lying down for an hour, I can stay up for about 2 hours. Then i take my tablets at 8pm and then 30min later get a new lease of life. My plan is the following.

25mg of Amytriptlyne when i wake say 8am
20mg of Oxycontin at 8 am.

10mg of Amytriptlyne at 2 O'clock
10mg of Oxycontin at 2 O'clock.

35mg of Amytriptlyne at 8 pm
30mg of Oxycontin

Or do you think I should take more at the 2 O'clock mark. Use some of the 8 pm meds. I know it will be a trial and error but maybe you could come up with a better solution.

Thanks Round1

Personally, I would take 20 mg. 3x a day of oxycontin so that your blood plasma levels are remaining steady and see if that helps you out. I would leave the Amytriptlyne as is. I would think you would want more of the Amytriptlyne at bedtime to help you rest.

I think that it is going to be trial and error as well. I second the opinion of dietdrpepper with keeping the Oxycontin steady in your blood stream. It also depends on what dosage your pills are for both the Oxycontin and the amitryptilene. Does the amitryptilene make you tired? I know that it has a tendency to do that. If so I would take the majority of that at night. here is what I would suggest.

20 mg Oxycontin at 8am

20 mg Oxycontin at 4pm
25 mg amitryptilene at 4pm

20 mg Oxycontin at bedtime
50 mg amitryptilene at bedtime

Keep us posted on what works out the best.

I tend to agree with Diet and Brian. I take 60mg in the am, then 40mg and 40mg(of Oxy). My pain is worse in the morning and my doc wouldn't raise my dose across the board.

I'm surprised you can do anything after taking amytriptiline(sp?). My hubby took it to help him sleep at night and could barely get out of bed in the morning for the first three weeks! Glad it helps your pain. Good luck.~Mush

Yes, you need more of a steady state....If not 20mg, 30mg. Your body "knows" it gets more the second half of the day, so it doesn't cooperate the first half.
