pain script doctors

I have had severe chronic back pain for 17 years now and have a herniated disc and I'm looking for a pm doctor for strong medication

deleted

. Can anyone help please? And I have been through every form of pain management you can think of. I am old enough to know where I'm at with this, so pm for medication is all I'm looking for. I've done physical therapy, cortizone shot, acupuncture, massage therapy, ect ect ect. So if someone could please recommend a doctor who is liberal in prescribing I would be very grateful. There are two in northern DE that I'm not interested in.

But if anyone knows any others, I'd be very grateful. Thanks.

Re: pain script doctors delaware

Dear Devin;

With all due respect to you, I don't think that you are going to be able to find a pm doctor that is just interested in giving out pain medications.

Your post just comes across like you are rather desperate for medication and medication only. I can understand why you may be upset with all the tests that have been done to you, we all have been down that road as well.
Have you just recently moved and that is why you now need a new pm doctor? Or has your doctor retired? If something like this has not happened then I'm not sure I understand why after all these years of suffering you would now need a new doctor?

I personally cannot suggest to you any pm doctor that would just be interested in giving medications to a new patient the way you want them to. I would think that any doctor receiving a new patient would want to find out if there are other ways besides being liberal with medications to try and help you.

It does sound like you are at the end of your rope but if you come across that way to any doctor I would think that the doctors may put a red flag by your name because they may think you are just a "drug seeker". And I'm sure that is something that you don't want.

I wish you all the luck and I hope that you get the help you need and want.
Take Care,
Chris

Re: pain script doctors delaware

Since I don't know your history and what your pain issues are and what modulaties you have tried besides narcotics I really can't comment.

Since all you need at this point is medication, I would try and find a good GP Dr or an Internal medicine Dr. When you make the apt do not tell the front desk people what you are after or they will not even let you in the door.

tell them you need a physical and need to establish yourself with a new Dr than you can tell the Dr what your needing and why you need it.

Bring all of your records with you and show that you have tried everything possible for your pain and that the only thing that works is meds.

This is what happened to me. I have tried it all and some. My GP knows that I have chronic pain and is willing to treat me with pain meds forever. However he did send me to a PM Dr to get me on new pain meds, and once that is done I will go back to him for my medications monthly. Usually Dr's know which PM Dr's will prescribe narcotics and which ones won't. Also the pharmacisit also know who prescribes and who doesn't.

Re: pain script doctors delaware

I spoke with my pharmacist and he recommended two doctors who wanted my medical history before seeing me. Both of which turned me down after they had read the previous doctors notes. It's really amazing what he wrote. He wrote that I was not in compliance with my medications.

I have always had clean urine tests and when I went to a wedding about a month ago, I had asked a family member for Tylonal PM. They accidentally gave me a valium. This showed up in my urine and after explaining myself, I have been red flagged from every doctor in the state. I find it amazing after being an honest patient and one who has always followed guidelines, that I am left to rot, because of some doctors misunderstanding and his notes. I'm in the process of writing that doctor a letter, but I don't think it will have any effect. My regular doctor doesn't like to prescribe pain medication, so therefore I'm really going to have difficulties on this.

Re: pain script doctors delaware

I had a good friend in much the same situation. He had taken Vicodin prescribed by his PCP and also had something show up that wasn't presribed. his FIRST PM appointment he told the DOCTOR what he had taken in past and who prescribed it etc and had his records from pharmacy. One question was asked was if he had taken anything NOT prescribed to him. He was honest and said YES, a friend had given him a Valium one night after a very trying stressful night with his son. That did NOT show up in UA but the NP took the scripts from him and wouldn't presribe. Since then he has showed up to every appointment for every procedure and they have begun presribing after seeing he was serious about pain control and wasn't there for the meds. Since then he has been getting meds as needed, even schedule II . Maybe one Dr would be willing to see you and do a UA to screen any unnecessary meds out or a letter from your PCP as a lead in ?
