What is in the neck muscle relaxant injection ?

I didn't write down what it was that I was given, but I was given a muscle relaxant injection in my neck to try and stop the aching and for a number of reasons I'd really like to know what it is that I was given or what the most likely ones are?

I doubt there are loads of types because I think they only offer one.

Re: What is in the neck muscle relaxant injection ?

was it a trigger point injection or an ESI injection was it given at a pain cliniic or by your GP DR Was it done under an x-ray or right in the office with a needle? your Dr would know, why don't you call and ask what you were given or ask for your medical records??

that seems to be the most logical explanation as to what they gave you. I am not familiar with any muscle relaxer that is injected into ones neck , it was most likey cortisone of some sort...but it could be something I am not familiar with.

Re: What is in the neck muscle relaxant injection ?

I'd have to agree that it probably was a trigger point injection with maybe lidocane, a steroid, or possibly a combination, or an epidural with a steroid. About the only things I can think of that are given in an injection are diazapam (valium), or lorzapam (ativan), but usually they are given in an IV. There may well be something out there that I haven't heard of though. The best way to find out for sure would be to call and request your records, or if it was your primary care Dr's office you could call and ask the nurse.

Re: What is in the neck muscle relaxant injection ?

I have been given Robaxin (sp?) via injection, but not in the neck. It was thick and kind of painful, but really did help with the muscle spasms. Other than that, I would have to agree that what you had sounds more like a trigger point injection than anything else.

Best bet is to call you doc's office and just ask.

Take care.
