Everyone who has already posted is correct, so I won't add to that. All I can tell you is to be prepared to pay a hefty sum if your insurance doesn't cover them. Without insurance, a month's worth of Lidoderm patches would have cost me $799.00. That was for 30 patches. My pharmacist told me that just as a little "FYI" once when I was using them and asked why I had to pay such a high copay ($50.00) when I picked them up. I had no idea they would be on the top tier of medications, but like stated above, they are Brand name only.
Call your insurance company and see if your plan covers them before heading to the pharmacy.
Oh- Also, I don't know if the manufacturer of Lidoderm patches does this, but some companies offer financial assistance with some of their medications. It might be worth a look-see to find out if this company offers help, or even factory direct coupons.
