what suprised me tho was what my NP Rxed me in place of the usual 5mg oxy IR? i was actually given a Rx for MSIR 15mg. since my pain clinic will not Rx ANY meds that contain tylenol, she told me the MS was the only other option i had for BT pain. is this even comparable?

Yes, it is comparable...But probably a bit stronger than what you've been taking. The problem with morphine sulfate is that when taken orally, it has poor bioavailability....Meaning it takes more to reach the same level of pain control as other meds. Oxy, on the other hand, has excellent bioavailability. This is probably why your Doc wrote you for 15mg. It also sounds like your Doc's office doesn't want the liability of LT use of Tylenol.
Also, because it's a different chemical structure, it targets your receptors differently. So, one med may work a bit better than another.
Lastly, if this new med is something you think you may be on for a while, you might ask the pharmacy to order it for you, or stock it...Explain to them your situation.
Best of luck to you.
