my next refill in 30 days falls on a sun; my dr. refuses to write the script for fri.(2 days earlier) before the "real" sunday-due date knowing my pharm is open on that friday.
(closed weekends, doc is aware of this)
this happens every few months,,dr tells me to go to a different pharm. i tell 'em "i know n trust this pharm, besides they handle my cardiac meds as well. he gets FENTORA for me,so if i went elswhere he'd get stuck with $4537.50 to sit on till next month.thats alot a cash for any pharm, but this is a smallish, local town pharm, im guessing it stinks to be in the hole for 4 and a half grand for no reason. BESIDES, if i were to call and find a place that knew what Fentora is, they also would need 2 to 3 days for ordering and delivery-my pick up.
if the doc wont make the scripts for friday, and i have to goto another pharm to get my meds,,then in truth "we dont have the right to go to any pharm we feel comfortable with" . id be forced to either go without till monday,,, or try and get them elswhere. we tried that when i first got sick, and thats why we are going to this pharm to begin with.he had the duragesic on hand,,but needed to order the fentora. since then he has had it every month now for over a year.
that reminds me,,i havent had my meds upped for well over a year. my dr is never in his office, but his dr/helper is and takes care of me well when i ask to have my meds go up,as theese arent helping at their best,,she calls the real dr,and he says no,keep them the way they are now. so the onduty dr dosent change a thing. but i find it weird, that the dr that sees me cant change my meds,,but the dr that is out of state starting another office is the one that dictates what my meds are to be. is that legal? i doubt its ethical, i wonder if the dr could be sanctioned in some way. between the state and the DEA id think this office is doing a few things wrong, illegal, or "not in the patients best interest".
all the above and every month or so,one of my scripts is either missing,or not correctly written. so i have to go back to the dr and get corrections and or the script at all, then thats about 20miles of driving for no reason..
is writting a script incorectly punnishable in some way?
i think if there is a way to sue the daylights out of them,,then they would beging treating pain more efficiently and correctly.
if stronger medication is available and legal, and called for,,and the dr just plain refuses to prescribe it,and patient suffers needless pain because dr wont prescribe a legal drug,,isnt that malpractice?
i figgure if a diabetic got something other than insulin to inject,,and they died,,that would be malpractice.its just with pain that the dr's can prescribe to weak of a medication,,and its perfectly legal.
thanks,

ps; with all the talk of giving more people health insurance,,what good would it do,if dr's still refuse to prescribe the medication??
pps; if i had a choice,id go anywhere else, but ive tried and the rest eiither want to inject you with stuff in the spine [ less than 45% sucsess rate,AT BEST ] ,or they are opioid phobic and wont go stronger than hydrocodone,,and thats crap,,besides ittl kill ya if you take it for two long. much longer than 14 months, yer askin fer trouble. but pain specialists dont care about you, they care about staying in buisness and invisable to the feds. the difference between a sign that says [ dr. Jones gp ] and [ dr. Jones pain clinic ] is truley several hundred thousand $$ per year. but more and more are trying to specialize in pain while avoiding narcotics alltogether. if they claim to be doing their best,,it's their best provided treatment is provided with the very minimum narcotic pain killers, if patients pain needs more than average dose,,then patient is stuck in pain for no reason except dr's fear of feds ruining his life.
