Question Burning in upper left arm

My husband has this burning pain his upper left arm. He has had this pain for a few days now. When he goes to lift his arm up or back, he feels a burning sensation like fire. Has anyone heard of this? Do you think he needs to see a doctor?

Re: Burning in upper left arm

Hi and welcome.

If it does not resolve itself soon he should get it checked. It could be anything from a rotator cuff problem to bursitis or tendonitis in that area. His primary care provider would be the place to start. For now, as long as there is no medical reason that he is not supposed to take an anti-inflammatory, he could try some ibuprofen or naproxen. Both are anti-inflammatory and can help with pain. If it continues he needs to get it checked out.

Re: Burning in upper left arm

The pain is not in the joint but in between the shoulder and elbow. Yeah, I think it's time for him to consider going to the doctor soon if the pain doesn't subside.

Re: Burning in upper left arm

I have the burning stinging pain in the same spot. Mine is from a spine disorder called Syringomyelia and Arnold Chiari malformation. He should def. go get it checked out.
