Will 2 months of hydrocodone use as directed cause liver problems?
About two months ago I had unexpected surgery for endometriosis. Two weeks prior to that I had been taking hydrocodone for wisdom tooth pain and to also manage the pain from the endo. After surgery I continued taking it daily every 4 hours as directed, never exceeding 4 grams of tylenol in one day. I am now taking it for my wisdom tooth again and have been taking about 3 7.5/750 tabs a day. I really do need it for pain until I get my teeth out (scheduled for dec. 4th). However, I'm worried about taking so much tylenol everyday. I've found conflicting information online with some sites saying liver damage can occur in regular doses used longer than 10 days and other sites saying as long as used as directed it's extremely safe. Does anyone have any experience or information for me? I haven't taken any at all today because I'm worried about damaging my liver but I also haven't eaten because my tooth pain is so bad. Thanks!

Hopefully your tooth is feeling better by now. There are many people in chronic pain management who take these pills on a long term >5 year basis and have no problems. Who knows if any will eventually have a problem, but certainly if you are healthy and following doctors orders, then it is most likely everything is fine. Just make sure to only take what is prescribed, do not add extra tylenol to your day, and be careful sometimes - it is in other rmedicines like cold and sinus medications. Feel better.

Hi,
I am sorry to hear you are having problems. I have been taking Percocet and Hydrocodone (at different times) for the past few years or so, every day. So far no problems with my liver they do blood work regularly to check. I am sure you will be okay for 2 months but I am not a doctor and our bodies are all different but I think you should be fine.
