Post Broken wrist still causing pain.

Hello this is my first time on the forums.
Back in the middle of Sept. 09, I was rough housing with some friends and I ended up breaking my Scaphoid(aka navicular) bone. It happened around 1030pm and I did not go the the ER right away but rather just went home hoping/thinking it was a sprain. Which was dumb, I tried using it and driving with it later in the night, but when it happened I couldn't even hold a pen if I wanted to. I woke up the next morning in ALOT of pain which prompted me to make my way to the doctor's office. They were able to get me in at around 4 the day after the injury. X-rays and a CT scan were done and yep, you bet, my scaphoid was broken.
Three days after the injury I opted to have a percutaneous pin put in my wrist so I would only have a short arm cast on for 6 weeks. I needed to get back to 100% quickly.
I was supposed to go to Basic Training for the Army in Octob. of 09, but this of course did not happen. Now my date to report is Sept. of 2010.

My wrist was doing completely fine about 3 weeks ago until I was involved in a car accident which totaled my car("T-boned" another car while i was going 40 mph). My wrist hurt ALOT as soon as I hit them. But the pain subsided quickly and I told the paramedics I did not want treatment. My wrist ached for the next feew days and i scheduled and appointment with my Ortho Surgeon(I moved and he is not the one that put the pin in my bone) and got x-rays taken and he said there was no breaks and if anything it was "probably a sprain" and sent me on my way. I was not in too much pain at the time of the appt but now(2.5-3 weeks later) it is hurting more. I do pull ups and push ups with relatively little pain, but today was the first time I have gone running since the accident and about half a mile in I started to feel a throb in my wrist that was a mild shooting pain. At about 1 mile in it was throbbing so bad I had to stop running. And now it is still throbbing and I dont know what to do. My doc says he wont do anything cause he "doesnt see anything".
Do you think I should try and have something else dont to see if there are any other injuries?
Or could my scaphoid have refractured and the pin is holding it in place making it not show up on the xray?
Or can a sprain cause this kind of pain?
Sorry if the story is too much to read, I just wanted to be clear on the conditions.
Thanks In Advanced

Re: Broken wrist still causing pain.

It might be worth trying a wrist support (you can buy them at a pharmacy) and a NSAID suck as Advil to see if that helps.

Given that the pain is getting worse rather than better, another appolintment with your doctor would seem to be in order.

He could prescribe an NSAID that is stronger and longer lasting than advil, which should take care of the pain.
