Cold sores and neurontin

Could neutontin be causing me to get more cold sores? I know it causes mouth sores. This is the third in 3 months.

Re: Cold sores and neurontin

<IMG SRC="http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/round.gif"> Cold sores are caused by a virus. The virus lays in a dorment stage till your body has a lack of an amino acid called Lysine. Once you take daily doses of Lysine it will go into a dormant stage again. Stop the Lysine and it will show up again as a "cold sore" This virus will be with you all your life. Healthfood stores carry Lysine.

Re: Cold sores and neurontin

Hi,
I have been taking 1800mgs Neurontin for over a year and haven't gotten a cold sore. I used to get them frequently as a child but none in a long time. I don't think the med is causing it.

Julie
