Hi, Cathy, I see we are almost neighbors! Don't know if you qualify, but if you have Medicare B and Medi-Cal as second payor, it is my understanding that you pay -0-. I worked in a doc's office almost 16 years, until 1/02 and thats the way it worked there.
Do you have a referral to a pain management clinic? I wonder if some arrangement might be worked out for you with them, if, for example, you only have Medicare and you say Medicare won't pay for pain management? Do you mean Medicare won't pay for injections/and/oral medications given in a physician's office? In some cases Medicare will pay for injections given in a physician's office, but not oral meds. Maybe your PM doc could hospitalize you as an out-patient for the treatments? I would check out with the PM doc about in-office injections and Medicare. In my former job, Medicare paid for them (up to the 80% allowed). Good luck.
