I don't want to alarm you, but I have NEVER EVER heard of anyone being put on Methadone for breakthrough pain!!!! That sounds very dangerous. Plus, I can promise you this - if you've been taking Methadone and then the nice doctor tells you to hand over what you have left OR refuses to maintain you on it, you are in for one heck of a BAD experience!!! The withdrawal from Methadone is very well the absolute worst there is! Please be careful. Get all the feedback you can from the other members here. It doesn't sound like a real good idea to me - IF this is just something short term!

I was also on methadone 10-20mg. Every four to six hours for pain as needed. It made me VERY VERY sick. Non stop nausea vomiting...The med to help me with that just made me sleep all day for two days straight. Please be careful with the methadone, if you use it regularly for BT pain. Tell your doctor and ask to be weened off. Withdrawal is two days of sweating, hot and cold chills, vomiting, sickness, coughing. All you wanna do is sleep. You dont eat or drink. You just sleep and sleep and sleep...YOu only wake up long enuf to go bathroom. But thats IT!.

So please be wise and take heed of caution!
