Dear Fibro, two things...first,besides methadone,Oxycontin,MScontin and Hydromorphone Contin are all long acting pain medications to chose from. Second, the word "Addiction" does not apply to those of us suffering from chronic pain. We are dependent on our medication, not "addicted". Addiction is a psychological term meaning to "Crave" a drug to get "High" or to "Seek out" a drug at all moral cost.We are dependant on our medication,as is a diabetic is dependant on insulin or an asthma patient is dependant on steroids or one who is depressed is dependant on benzo's. Our body depends on the medication for pain relief and if we stop we go into withdrawl, not because we are "addicted, but because we are dependant. Medical studies show that only 3 out of every 1,000 chronic pain patients ever show tendencies of drug addiction! Get your info correct before you make a statement on the internet!
