Post Duragesic Tape

Hi all,

I started the Duragesic 50 patch last night and think it's working ok. There is still some pain, but not severe as it was before. And I'm sooo tired. I put it on my upper arm and I'm thinking that was a bad move. It's bending and popping up here and there. I called my doctor's office, she suggested I call Jensen for the tape. I called and I guess made a mistake and told them I had broken out from some tape once (it wasn't that bad) after a surgery. The thing was, it was after a breast reduction and the skin on your chest is so sensitive and the tape had been on for a week. The lady at Jensen said I can't have tape now, they've documented I've had "allergic" reactions in the past and they've documented my name and address. So I'm blacklisted! Why is it so difficult to obtain tape? The nurse at my PM said don't tell them anything, but she had a short questionarre for me when I called. Anyway, I put surgical tape over it for now. I didn't even take a shower last night for fear it'll come off. My question is, is it ok to cover the whole patch with First Aid type tape? I think next time I'm going to put it on my back or chest.

Thanks!

You are supposed to put these patches on your upper arm, back (above the waist), or chest, according to a website I checked out on this..and it also said first aid tape may be used if it starts coming off, so I think that should be fine, but you really only need to tape down the edges, but I don't see why you couldn't tape the whole thing down if you felt you needed to.... Make sure when you're getting ready to apply the next one, clean the area, but only with water, no soap or lotion or anything... Good luck!

Oh yeah and make sure you hold it down for a minimum of 30 seconds when applying also making sure it sticks to your skin especially around the edges..This should help with the edges peeling up.

Thumbs up

NaeNae
I would call them back and tell them there was a
misunderstanding and see if you can get them to send them to you. If need be tell them you want to talk to a supervisor. Get a doctors approval if necessary
What they send you is a 4" by 5" very very thin cover like they use on an IV. You cover the patch completely.
It moves and streches with your skin. it will not come off when you shower, sweat. Only when you want it to it will come off by pulling it off.

Good Luck
Azkikn
