Cool IBS answer Autumn

Good evening to all and Autumn,

I just thought it more appropriate to start a new thread on this. OMG what a horribly slow day. I thought it would never end. And I guess we have gotten our answer to our question regarding the Docs. Well Autumn to answer your question about the IBS thing. At first when I discovered I had IBS was after my 3rd back surgery after I broke it. That surgery was to correct and restore feeling to my groin area and to give me back some bowel function. I should say that it was somewhat a success. I still need the aid of viagra to have relations with my wife. And my bowel function came back with a vengence to put it mildly LOL. anhow one day I would have constipation the next day diarehea. It was awful to say the least. Any how my doc said that it was IBS after alot of tests. That was 17 years ago. Well they had me taking everything. Immodium on and off. Senakot the next. Bentyl,Librax, you name it. Nothing seem to help. Oh and by the way the docs told me that it is very common among people who have had back injurys and chronic pain. Those signals in our brains get interfered with the pain signals always fireing. So back to the meds. After alot of trial and error the only thing that has helped me was the elavil in low dose 50mgs max and eating alot of uncooked veggies and friut everyday. And since I've been on pain meds pretty constantly since I broke my back I have never really had any problems with long term constipation wierd huh. Oh well enough of hte embarrassing crap, no pun intended LOL. How have you and others dealt with it I would be curious the have other peoples in put. Anyhow have a good eveing all. And may it be as pain free as posslbe...

Matt

Geez Matt ya had to make an entire thread about IBS?? Hahaha kidding Well fibre lots of fibre...then Immodium lots of Immodium. I didnt know what day which was doing to hit. My doc told me anything after 3 days is considered constipation. The constipation isnt near as bad since I stopped alot of the narcotics I was on. When I was on the oxycontin, percs and the dilaudid at the same time I was so bunged up it was sad lol. Doc perscribed a stool softener and Fibre. And of course Immodium for the IBS attacks. Since Monday I have had an attack every other day which is odd for me my IBS is usually every couple weeks I will get an attack which lasts a couple days and I know a couple ahead of time when one is coming because my belly swells and I cant fit into my pants. Anyway enough of this topic lol. Thank you Matt for putting your "personal" stuff out here because you didnt have to. You are a good friend
Luv
Autumn.

Hey Autumn,

Well you asked. So I answered LOL. I wonder if because you cut back on the narcs that it might have been the cause of your recent increase in attacks. So any Autumn how was your day yesterday. Are you still going back to school. And did you call your Doc about an Increase in your Oxy IR. Maybe we should start a different thread in case the other members get the wrong idea LOL. Any how keep me informed.

Matt

A new thread?? Whatever for Matt? lol I kinda like the title of this one lol. Anyway I never thought of that the decrease in my meds being the cause of the attacks. I called my PM and he is at the walk in clinic here tonight between 3pm and 6pm so I am going to go see him there. I wish my appt with him would have been after I was in school longer than a day. Thats how I got on the high dose I was on because concentrating at school, plus walking there and back and all the added pressures of looking for a part time job and running the house have made my pain come back hard like it was before. Taking off school and sitting on my butt made it easier to cut down my meds because I could sleep the pain off..sit around relax etc.. What I am going to do is ask him for percocet 5mg to take care of me between 7 and 11 pm. See right now I am at OXY IR 3 times a day. I take my first dose when I get up at 7am or I am not getting up lol. Next is at 11 am I take a potty break at school and take my meds now at 3pm I would take a 5mg and same at 7pm instead of taking a 10mg OXY IR because it runs out in four hours so rather take 5mg twice and save the 3rd OXY 10mg for bedtime when I really need it to sleep. So my new schedule would be if he agrees: 7am.-10mg oxy ir
11am- 10mg oxy ir
3pm - 5mg percocet
7pm - 5mg percocet
11pm- 10mg oxy ir
So instead of one 10mg that will only last 4 hours I want to break it up into 2 5mg that will give me 8 hours it might not take away all the pain but I will not be where I have to concentrate and I can lay down, shut lights off relax, sleep etc.. What you think? Anyway have a great day I will let you know what happens.
Autumn.
