Post methadone vs methadose

I have been taking methadone for the last 7 months and had great sucess with it blocking my pain and causing severe fatigue. This month my pharmacy gave me methadose. I am having breakthrough pain and am not tired at all on it. Has anyone else noticed a difference between the two or am I crazy?

Karla,

I have been given both from the pharmacy and the only difference I have had is the w/methadone tabs the onset of action is a little faster than with the methadose. According to my pharacist he said the the binder aggents are diferent. They both have the same amount of active ingredent in them. They have to according to FDA regs. I hope that this is of help...

I have tried both Methadone and Methadose and I can say for sure that the Methadone is definately lots BETTER than the weak old Methdose.

I started out getting my first Methadone 10mg tablets thru my best friend. I had been buying Lortabs, etc. and they just weren't getting rid of the pain no matter how many MG's a day I was taking, and then I tried (1)-10mg Methadone tab and it knocked the pain from a 9-10 on the pain scale down to a 3 or a 4.

I started doing research on Methadone and couldn't believe how well this helped me control my pain. I finally got into a wonderful pain clinic back in September of 2002, where I was prescribed 2-10mg's a day and was increased by 1 more tablet a day meaning I was taking 90 tablets of Methadone a month.

I just went back to my doctor yesterday and was asked if I wanted to up my Methadone by one more a day. I thought about it and decided to not take the increase in Methadone and instead try Amytriptylene to take at bedtime for a good night's sleep. Well it is 2:23 am here and I'm sitting here playing on the computer and don't even feel sleepy at all.

Well now that I have rattled along about my whole history, I have been getting the Methadone tablets and a couple of months ago I got some Methadose and couldn't believe how weak it was compared to the smaller Methdone tabs. I have tried switching back and fourth and always got the same result everytime.

Now before I leave out of the pharmacy, I make sure that I have Methadone and not Methadose. It seemed to take at least twice as Methadose to kill the pain.

I have seen where some people see no differance, but to me, I see huge diferance between the two of them

Hey Dragon,

I tooam on amytriptlene. Its a very good drug. It helps me sleep and I know that it helps with the pain as well. I was orginaly started on it for IBS and it has help alot there as well. Its good to hear from you. I haven't seen you on this board lately. I just thought of something. It could be that since I'm on a larger dose That I don't notice the difference as much. I take 30mgs in the morning and 10mgs at lunch and then 30mgs in the evening. That really could be why. I have heard several people complain about the methadose not helping as much, but I also don't know what dosage they are on. And then there are alot of Peolpe like myself that can hardly tell the difference. There too I don't know what dosage they are on as well. Anyway I hope that you get some benefit from the elavil as I have. Take care....

Howdy Folks,
I,ve been gone for a while,it,s nice to be back.I take Methadone and the smaller generic pills made by Roxanne are frequently preferred over the bigger,filler-stuffed Methadose. If you can get a hold of him,David66 will give you a textbook reason why.I know He posts here,I don,t know if He still does.
