Methadone & Fatique - Pain Management Message Board

Does anyone get major fatigue on Methadone? My doctor took me off Duragesic Patches because of fatigue and put me on Methadone instead. I took one and it's wiping me out. Just sitting her typing my eyes keep closing. I keep seeing double I'm so tired. He told me this should give me energy.

Has anyone had any luck with meds that don't knock you out? I've been on Vicodin, Vicoprofen, Norco, etc. They didn't make me too tired, but I had built up a tolerance and they weren't working too well.

I'm getting frustrated trying to find a med. This is just too hard, though.

Hi NaeNae!

I take oxycontin 10 mg 2x/day...and they made me very tired the first few days!!! I obviously adjusted, tho, because I no longer feel that way!

Perhaps after a few days, you will do the same if you can just get thru them!

5/9 - Discogram - shows Tear L4 w/ significant leak onto nerves, DDD
Doc sched NEW discogram 'cuz performing doc oversedated, False Negative

I take 10mg in am and 10mg in pm of methadone. I have been on this for 7 months. Exactly 4 hours after I take my pill I crash and can not hold my eyes open any longer. It doesn't matter where I am at. I am so out of it and tirred that I will fall asleep wherever I am at. I usually take my medicine at 6am and 6pm. I sleep from 10am to noon. Then I am fine for the day. I go to bed at 10pm so it isn't a problem for me at night time.

I take 20mg,4 times a day and I was never able to get past the "Methadone Droopies".It,s such a good,CHEAP pain med,I told my doc about it and he Rxed some Ritalin to combat sleepiness.It helped,just did,nt last too long(about 4 hrs.)so he tried me on Dexedrine.It works great.The Dex actually enhances the pain relief from the Methadone.The doc told me it probably would and he was right.It,s a great combo,especially when you are at work and need to be alert.Ask your doc about it.Jack Beanstalk

I've never heard of Dexadrine. I'm already on Provigil (for Narcolepsy patients) because I have sleep apnea and my Effexor makes me tired. I have no idea why he told me it would give me energy! I wish I could take a nap, but I have 2 small children. If this keeps up I'm going to call him. He hasn't been the nicest doctor. He told me I can't call him for questions anymore, I need to come in if I have a question and make an appointment. Great way to rip off the insurance company. So off to find a new PM Doc.
