Anyone trying to manage pain caused by adhesions? - Pain Management Message Board

I have a long history of female trouble in my LLQ. I have had one laparotomy to remove a huge ovarian cyst and three subsequent laps to remove endometriosis, adhesions, etc.

The last three surgeries my left fallopian tube and ovary were completely adhered to my colon. The last surgery my dr. and I decided to remove my left tube and ovary completely as my family is complete.

I was so disappointed when the pain came back again! My OB/GYN says she can do another surgery to clean up the adhesions, but won't that just leave me with MORE scar tissue?

I'm so tired of this! I am so tired of the pain! And BM's are so painful! (Sorry if that's TMI!)

Omg Manyprobs...I could have written that post!! I have had many surgeries in the female area. 3 through the same scar that goes from bellow my naval to my ummm pubic line lol. First one was in 82 Surgery to remove about a quart and a half of posion and my appendix. Surgery 2 was in 89 fallopian tube abcess the size of a large orange after 2 weeks of IV antibiotics didnt work the fallopian tube was removed through the same incision. Surgery 3 (vaginally) Emdometrial Ablasion for exsessive bleeding after miscarriage. Surgery 4...Tubal Ligation or remaining tube.
Surgery 5...Total abdominal Hysterectomy May 6th 2002. and I had a few others hernia repair and stuff like that. Anyway my prob is kinda like yours I had a pelvic Ultrasound done a couple month after my surgery cuz I had pain on the left and right side. My ovaries were left in after the Hyst. Well my left ovary is totally out of veiw because my bowel is sitting on it or something and my right ovary is full of cysts. One cyst alone takes up half the ovary. There is also blood in my urine I cant see it but the urine test can. I have a cystoscopy May 27th to see whats wrong if the bladder was nicked during the Hyst or what. I am on OXY IR and Percocet for my other chronic pain and it helps the "female" pain too. Plz Keep me updated ok? You sound so much like me. I do have an appt. w/a pain mngmt. dr. on June 2nd. I hope he is able to help me and won't dismiss the pain as "being in my head".

I had the same problem after having my tubes tied! No, it is not all in your head. I started having tremendous pain in the bladder area about 3 months after surgery. I have never had any problem prior to this surgery with pain.

The obgyn told me I had a great deal of scar tissue from a 20 year old c-section I had and he said he cleared it all up(while he was tying tubes). Well, while going to bio-feedback, the nurse informed me some people devolope rapid scar tissue very quickly and it can cause many problems including pain.

I was ultametaly diagnosed with I.C. which is a chronic bladder disease, but I am left wondering if it isnt scar tissue which is causing the bladder pain...

Ps, My experience from all of this is never have anything invasive done unless absolutely necessary...

What do you do to manage your pain? Does the biofeedback help?
