Need some advice - Pain Management Message Board

I've been taking Hydrocodone for my back pain for a few months now. 7.5/500 x 4 per day and I am afraid of the long term effects it will have on my liver/kidneys.

What would you recommend besides Hydrocodone?

BTW: I take a combo of Vioxx 50 mg and the Hydro each day to help with my h.d.

There is a medication called Narco. It’s hydrocodone but only has 350 mg of Tylenol. If you are concerned about liver damage, have your doctor run regular liver profiles. I was told your liver regenerates, but once damage is done..it’s too late. So, make sure you get regular blood work done. Good luck.

I agree with Pippin about meds and having liver checked. But there are other medications that have less acetaminophin out there also. Check with you Dr.. Let him know your concerns.. Be careful of the Vioxx too, cause that can cause you stomach problems with long term use.. Almost any anti inflammatory can.

Hi Ask your Dr. about Oxyfast, It's oxycodone not hydrocodone, but it has no tylonal(sp?).My Dr. suggested it after finding my liver count a little high. It worked well for me. Good luck and take care,Lake
