Red face docs sent me to pm doc and he gave me too strong meds

My pc doc sent me to have an eppidural on my lower back,it backfired and my spinal cord was punctuered. This caused me to vomit and suffer spinal migranes for 4 weeks then i had an addisons crash from not getting my steroids into my system enough, they told me to double up my meds this 4 weeks so i did but with all this and the vomitting they did not write it on my rx so the pharmacy called and my pc dr sent me to see the dr who did my eppidoral ,who is also a pain magement doc,i told him i was having trouble getting my meds because of all the trouble after the eppidoral,he gave me something stronger and said pain meds would be my only option for my condition for life,
I tried the tylox he gave me for 2 days and found it was too strong or didnt agree with me,i was zonked out cross eyed loopy.I called the next day to tell him this and he said to bring it in to him and he would put me back on my other original med percocet7.5,he flushed my meds then off to the pharmacy i went but the pharmacy had a problem and called to question him and he said forget it ,i rushed back to his office really mad after watching him flush the only pain med he had given me down the tubes and then he tells me he will not be giving me pain meds ever? But says he still wants to treat me? The day prior he told me pain meds was the only treatment so why and do i have to continue to see him?

Thanks for any advise,i need another pm doc fast and do i need a referral?i had only met this man 2 times, when he messed my back up more and when he pulled this crap! NOT SURE WHAT TO DO BUT STILL NEED PAIN TREATMENT!

your doc should have told the phrmacist to fill your script and not to question him. Your doc sounds like he's schizo or something. First he tellls you that you'll be on pain meds the rest of your life then tells you he won't give you any pain meds? There is a law that states a doctor MUST treat your pain. Sounds like your doc is on that is scared of getting busted or something for giving out too much pain meds. Unfortunately there are a lot of doctors that get scared of this

My advice, get your medical records from him and find another doctor. And I would look into suing too. Look up your rights on the net and let that doc know that you have rights he he is violating them.

Good luck and hang in there. Try and find a more compassionate doctor.

~month and one week later, couldn't move neck LOTS of pain and crying. Tingling in right index and middle finger. Pain down right arm, pain always in neck and in upper back between shoulder blades (burning). Legs also hurt at times.
~went to various docs, prescribed muscle relax. and pain meds on and off whenever I got a "flare up".
~found my doc 2 years ago, prescribed lortab. insurance wouldn't cover preexistin cond till 6 months lapsed
~doc said "you are having muscle spasms and will prob be on pain killers the rest of your life"
~later, doc started to question my pain
~told him to schedule MRI
~MRI showed herniated disk, bulging on right side at C5 & C6
~kept me on pain meds and referred me to a wonderful chiro.
~now seeing chiro and taking pain meds
~next step is epidural shot if chiro doesn't work.
~UPDATE: Aug 2003: Saw Doc., discussed tolerence to Lortabs; Discussed long acting meds and complete loss of sensation in right thumb up to first finger; and pain worse, + wake up with right arm "dead" often!
~Set up appt with Neuro
~Prescribed MS Contin 30 mg 2x day plus Lortab 10 5 per day for BT.
~ 1 wk later: bumped up to 60mg MS Contin 2x day
~ So far MS Contin works excellent. Pain level 0 to 1 for 8-10 hours

I,m a bit puzzled with this ,too, unless the doc is a schizo or something went wrong that he didn,t understand.Maybe it was the fact that you,in reality, threw him for a loop when you said the Tylox was too strong and he gave you back Percocet7.5.Now,here,s what is wrong,Michelle:Tylox is made up of 5mg Oxycodone and 500mg tylenol. They were too strong, you told him. What he gave you back was Percocet. It is composed of 7.5mg of Oxycodone and tylenol. What you got back was in fact 50% stronger than the Tylox!Do you think this made him react a bit ?I,m wonderin myself.Sorry,kiddo.Jack B.

Hey There
Definetly sorry to hear that the PM Dr that did the Epidural made you worse.. But I have to agree with Jack on the Medication issue.. You were on stronger meds Percocet7.5 and he gave you Tylox, that you said made you sick....Then he gave you a new prescription for the 7.5 so Pharmacy should have filled it.. That is really interesting, it would make me wonder what that Dr is afraid of, and juat what did that Pharmacist tell the Dr. Sounds like you need a new PM Dr like yesterday.. And you need a lawyer too.
Well take care..
Best of Luck To Ya.
