Hey Whaley,Sorry, I just doubled checked, It's 1600mgs per day of Avinza is what I was referring too, Avinza uses fumaric acid as a preservative and stabalizer and more than 1600 mgs per day can cause problems. Meds without dangerous preservatives like MScontin or Kadian have no ceiling.

The daily dose of AVINZA must be limited to a maximum of 1600 mg/day.
AVINZA doses of over 1600 mg/day contain a quantity of fumaric acid that has not been demonstrated to be safe, and which may result in serious renal toxicity. (See Warnings). The 60, 90, and 120mg capsules are for use only in opioid tolerant patients.

I've seen doses of other LA morphine products well exceed 2000mgs a day with no dangerous side effects once the patient is acommadated to this level of medication. Is that what you were asking? It's the only free form opiate I have ever seen aside from Demerol that has a ceiling. Demi builds up a metabolite that can cause seizure after prolonged use. Take care, Shore
