Post Tiddgys, hope you are doing OK?

Hi there my dear friend.

I know last Fri was only a week since the beginning of your trial, but I was just wondering if you got to go home yet? I am so anxious to find out how you are doing with the pump. I certainly hope and pray you are having an easier time of things than I have (long story). If I remember correctly weren't you suppose to be allowed to go home for a few days. I could have things confused but I thought that's what the schedule was like.

Anyway, please know that I've been thinking and praying for you daily. I so hope things are going well for you so far. It's a long ordeal but I really believe the way you are having it done is the absolute best way. I just really miss you and am concerned and am dying to know how you feel thus far. Just whenever you get home and feel up to it, please let us hear from you. Please don't rush it though - trust me. Much love to you my dear friend. Your fellow pumpster Linda

Thumbs up

Linda~

I am a friend of hers and I think I can give you this much information on her. There is more but I believe this is all I can give for now. I hope this will help you not to worry as much. I hope she will be back to post soon.

She was in pretty good spirits and the great news is that she is home!!!! She came home on Saturday and is feeling sore and groggy, which is to be expected, but that the kids and husband especially have been an absolute blessing and have been there for her all of the way.

She is really pleased about how much of an improvement she is seeing in her pain levels already. She has reduced her meds - I think she said that her Oxy is down to something in the region of 20, 2 times a day but I'm not 100% sure about the rest.

I just wanted you to know that things sound pretty good for now.

I will try to keep you updated until she can post herself or someone else steps in to do so.

Shirl

Shirl,

How kind you are to take the time to let me know about my dear friend! I've been thinking of Tiddgys constantly and was so hoping everything is going as it should. I'm sure she is still experiencing the surgical pain but hope that won't last long.

What I'm about to say will probably send Tiddgys into shock. I'm having my pump removed tommorrow. I've had all kind of complications from the surgery and I decided the pump is not for me. I'm glad Tiddgys wasn't here on the boards to see my nightmare unfold. At least, not til she was on the road to recovery.

Again, thank you so much for your time. Please let Tiddgys know I'm praying and thinking about her, OK? Hope the both of you are doing well or as well as can be expected. I'll be offline tommorrow and probably Thurs. due to my surgery, but will come back on the boards as soon as I can. Much love always, Linda

Dear Linda, Shirl..
first thank you shirl for getting this update across for me ..

Linda, I have read your thread all about your troubles with this pump how bloody awful for you i feel so bad for you, if only there was something i could do for you..

Please keep talking do not go away i love you freind you mean a lot to me..

Right a quick history from what happened, it did not go as planned.. I went in on friday the 15th only to have the procedure then they said as i have been in pain they are sending me home for the weekend to recover and i would then go in Monday the 18th to finnish off procedure and spend the rest of the week in there..

Well after a very uncomfie weekend Monday came and we sat and sat waiting paitiently for the call to say come in, Finaly Husband called them to find out when i was to go in, and they said " we have a bed shortage we may not beable to get her into day, well husband Gary went balistic,He went to the highest aurthorty and to our local MP..
I also said to gary what if this catherter gets blocked at the end it is in my back as it is healing all the time with nothing going through it, Well Gary then called and asked this and they assured us it would not..

Then low and behold a phone call came at 7:30pm Monday to say they had a bed for me, So i think what ever Gary had said worked, i ended up in my hospital bed at 8:30pm that night..

Tusday came and my consultant came to see me to fix this Pump on, he said lets Flush it through first, well i'm sure you know the rest......Yep it was blocked nothing would go through it at all, so He then cheers me up by saying we have to have you back in Theartre tonight to redo the procedure, Well i was not a very happy bunny at all, as this was not very nice at all, they hit your nerves left right and center also it stings quiet alot where they thread the catherter through, But in the end it was done..

The rest of the week they took the Oxy away gradully (I was origanally told this was comming away altogether)And upped my pump, i was sick at first coz of my oxy but as i came off all that it dissapeared so did the drowziness..

I was in the hospital untill Saturday and was sent home in the afternoon and been home ever since with a visit to hospital inbetween to up the pump, i have to go again tommorow Thursday..

Right here is the good bit of news, i was orinally told this trial would be 6 weeks now i have been told the longest would be 4 weeks and when he is the consultant that is is happy with me he wil take this out and i will have to wait four weeks for my pump as he wants the old wounds to heal first, I'm not at all happy with that , As it means i have to go back on my Oxycontin..

Well other than not doing much as the pump is very delicate so as not to pull anything out i am just resting, I had my first very bad night last night it was horrible kept me awake most of it so i expect this means up it..

I have probably forgot loads so i will be back soon..

Love to you all..

Hi Linda.
Just Bumping this one up for you also so you can catch up when you feel up to it..

I am still having high and lows, at the weekend i have been Light headed, But this is slowly wearing off! This seems to happen everytime they experiment and up this Trial pump, It is at 1.6 per hour now, and it as been two weeks i am still also on a low dose of Oxycontin too..

I go to hospital tomorrow,(tuesday) so i expect they will try to up it again and get me off this last dose of Oxy..

Then if this works they will then dismantle this trial pump at the end of this week and i will then be left to heal up and have the real Implant in about 4 weeks time..

Take care poppet..
