Natural supplement to protect the liver from acetaminophen

I have noticed a lot of anxiety on these doards about the potential for acetaminophen to harm the liver.

Wether it is justified in the doses most of us take I'm not sure, but it is definatly there.

There is a cheap insurance policy you can take, in the form of the natural amino acid n-acetyl-cystine. it protects the liver from acetaminophen toxicity (it is what hospitals use to treat massive accute overdoses), is safe (it is a dietary amion acid, the same as in steak, lamb chops and eggs) and is freely and cheaply avaliable.

1 x 600mg capsule per day is the usual dose.

As an added benifit, it acts as an antioxidant, thus keeping you young and beautiful!

I take 4000mg acetaminophen per day, every day, and have for 10 years, and have been taking NAC every day for most of this time, and have never had any issues with my liver.

Re: Natural supplement to protect the liver from acetaminophen

NSI sell bottles of 240 capsules for about 15 dollars, 5 cents a day.... pretty cheap for the peice of mind you derive from it, not to mention the health benifits
