Smile Re: Does hydrocodone make anyone cranky and...

Hydrocodone and other narcotics are CNS (central nervous system) depressants and often can result in anxiety/agitation. Most folks on hydrocodone for extended periods of time end up taking benzos (ie klonopin/xanax/valium) to compensate.

This can be a very effective therapy...unfortunately...when doctors see that combo of drugs they tend to get apprehensive. Mostly due to the junkies/addicts who abuse pain killers and need something to help with the side effect. Makes it hard for those of us with legit chronic pain.

Re: Does hydrocodone make anyone cranky and...

I left out some helpful info about the other meds I'm on:
1) Adderall 30mg x2
2) Wellbutrin 300mg
3) Xanax 0.5 x3
I have ADHD and some Depression that I take the meds for and it seems that when I take the Hydro it makes me feel like you said: Sort of hyper or "shaky-cranky", it does not feel real pleasant but it helps me to get through my job. I talk to people about their diets and exercise plans and work with folks trying to rehab injuries or that have medical issues. I have to be sure of my focus and attentiveness when listening to these people, no room for error. I find myself needing a half of a Xanax to go with the Hydro so the jittery, cranky feelings don't show. Could the other meds affect the Hydro? JB
