I hope this finds most of you pain free at least for today!
Late last week I had an appt. set up with a Doc. who is under the same "umbrella" and located in the same bldg. as my PM doc. I showed up for my appt. with my husband (it was at 8:00 p.m.) and the front door to the office building was locked. I rang the buzzer, no answer. So we got in the car and headed home. I left a message on their answering machine asking where are they and do not charge me. I am the one who had to call the next day and no apology of course. Their story was that someone else who works in the building locked the door. Sure they did.
At my last appt. which was 2 days prior to this missed appt. pm Doc. told me he was leaving for a conference in DC for 12 days. Sounds more like spring break to me. Anyways, I asked that if I have to call after hours who answers? He assures me an answering service. A live person answers. Of course no live person answered, it was the answering machine.
So I felt that I had no choice but to say adios to this pm clinic. I mean honestly, why would I go back to a hole like that? They think I am overacting and should come back. I do not agree. I asked for a taper schedule, no I have to see the Dr. for that. I asked for my records, no that has to be approved by the DR. Whatever. I have an appt. tomorrow with my pcp hoping she will just take over my taper schedule because I swear if I see another specialist, I will scream.
At first I thought he was good and then came the inconsistencies. Like, "yes, I will prescribe your Buspar until you get to a Psych. Dr." Ten days later, "no, I don't feel comfortable prescribing Buspar as it is a psych med." Well, which is it??? Oh, and originally I was referred to his partner who I said a big NO to seeing because he lost his liscence for 2 yrs. for writing his own scripts to himself. Who goes into business with someone like that? A dirtbag himself that's who! Please research your Dr.s before you go if you don't already do.
Thanks to anyone who read this, I needed to get this off my back. I have been very upset, crying and my husband doesn't understand why. Also, I wanted to warn you all what is out there in terms of these Dr.s. Be careful.
Sorry to hear about atl your recent troubles but I've always thought most folks take their doctors creds etc. for granted. I've been a longtime proponent of taking "ownership" of your own healthcare. That goes for knowing your doctors, knowing about the meds you take and everything that goes with that. Basically, educate yourself. It really does pay, I've gotten more than my share of raised eyebrows because I do know about many different types of pain meds as well as other meds out there for my many ailments. It's my body for cryin' out loud, why would't everyone do that?
I'm sure you'll land on your feet and good for you for not putting up with that garbage!
Just remember, it could always be worse!
Thank you for your very positive response. Yes, I am very proactive about my meds and Doc.s and such things. It is the person treating me and it is what I am putting in my body and I want to know about it! Good for you for doing the same!
I like your tag line too, "it could be worse" because it is so true. I tell myself that often and it has helped in getting me off these meds. I think about the people in Haiti or third world countries that suffer horribly and they don't get to take medication or even see a Dr.
If you haven't heard back after "missing" an appointment it may not be a clinic you want to continue to visit. I found a PM practice with 3 doctors, so at no time would I be without a doctor. Same with my Orthopedic Spine Surgeon, he has 1 associate who does spine (soon to be 2) and other Orthopedic Surgeons who were able to help me when my surgeon was unavailable.
