Ulner nerve damage - Looking for help on pain medication
About 15 months ago I seperated my right shoulder. I reinjured it while traveling abroad a few weeks later and ever since then I have had numbness, tingling, sharp pain in my neck, right shoulder and right arm all the way down to my fingers. I have been dealing with the pain on my own ever since then (1 year now) and tried OTC medicine like tylenol ect. I quit taking these medicines because they have never helped with the pain. I have gone through depression, anger, and my family thinks I need to see a doctor and therapist to help deal with the pain. I have been through phyiscal therapy and see a chiropractor on a regular basis, but have had no relief. My life has changed significantly because of my chronic pain?
I am wondering if I should look into stronger pain medication such as hydrocodone/oxycodone to see if that medicine will help improve my daily life. I am afraid of the thought of getting addicted to prescrition drugs, but my pain has gotten to the point where I can't take it anymore. I have read online that, if taken according to doctors orders, addiction is not exteremly likely and that narcotic medicine has helped many people with their chronic pain.
Is this an option for me? Would this help me in my current situation? Surgery is not an option as I cannot afford it nor do I want to risk further damage. Are there ways to prove to a pain specialist or orthopedic specialist that I am in considerable pain on a daily basis? Are there tests they can run to prove it?
Any information about narcotic pain medicines and ulnar nerve damage would greatly help!
