Question How long does Oxycontin stay in blood stream?

My question is simply this:

how long does a 40 mg. pill of Oxycontin stay in the blood stream before one can begin taking another form of pain management?

Please tell me....

Thanx.

I'm not exactly sure why but I would guess for a while maybe a couple days to a week? Im not sure what kind of situation your referring to though that you seem worried about it.

Re: How long does Oxycontin stay in blood stream?

i agree, if you could just be a bit more specific in what you mean here it would help. you should NOT have to have ALL of your OC completely out of your system(as in "it would not appear in any UA" type situation) before you can try another type of PM or medication. the overall 'stated active duration" is allegedly around 12 hours(but soo not 12), tho it has been my personal experience, esp with this newer crap that I usually obtain like seven hours, then a very abrupt stop of any real pain releif. and with the 'old' OC it was right around 8 hours with a much more gradual decline?

just what IS your main area and type of pain you are trying to treat, or bring down to a much more tolerable level? that would help us to try and help you in all the best ways. marcia
