I was prescribed Lyrica a few months ago and today I was doing some searching on HB in regards to possible side effects. BTW, I don't usually "take" what the Rx info says as side effects because everyone is different and I commonly have problems not listed. That's where this site is so great! This is a community of folks that take these meds all the time. This is where the rubber meets the road so to speak.
Anyway, I have had a loss of feeling in the tips of my fingers lately and I've had problems with my contacts I have not had in the past. My eyes get what I call goobers in them and I can't see, then other times they're incredible dry. It's unreal. But the problem that really concerns me the most is the loss of feeling in my fingertips. I'll reach down to pick up something small and I can't tell if I have it or not. It's a weird feeling. So, after doing a search on HB, I did discover someone else that had the same problem. Basically, I plan on getting off the stuff because I don't think its helping with my neck pain and I can't put up with the side effects. I sure hope my feeling comes back once I stop!
Does anyone else on this med have similar problems? PS - I'm prescribed 75mg x 2 daily for chronic pain.
Hello. I take lyrica 50mgx3 a day. The side fx were low and now that you mention it, I have had more crap in my eyes than usual. At night mostly. Weird you brought that up. But I cannot comment on the fingertip thing. My right hand is totally tingly and numb all the time. That's what I take lyrica for. And I dont notice it in my left. I think it's a good drug. I take it with my other pain meds and it works great. I have also read a bunch on it and it seems like more people don't agree with it. Best of luck with whatever you switch to.
Thanks Lake! Actually I'm going to just drop the Lyrica. It was added to my regiment recently but I currently take Opana ER and Oxycodone IR for BT for my chronic pain issues. I also take Ambien at night because I used to sleep like crap. I wouldn't be able to go to sleep at night and I'd wake up anywhere from 3-8 times a night. I know I wasn't getting quality sleep and definitely couldn't have reached REM sleep at any point. I just woke up too often.
I'm glad it's working for you and hopefully many others. For the record, I don't really think I have the kind of pain problems Lyrica works on. I just think the new doc was throwing things against the wall and hoping something would stick, if you know what I mean. Actually, the meds I'm on now are doing a pretty good job so I should be OK. Good Luck and thanks!
Holly mackerel I know what you mean about throwing medication against the wall (hoping) something would stick. I was put on arthrotec, which is an NSAID on the strong side. I went mentally insane. Seriously. And topamax, celebrex, relafin. I'm surprised one of them didn't kill me. That's why lyrica works for me though. Nerve damage. I hope everything works out, there is an herb called California poppy. I take it. Would also recommend it.
