Intense Back Pain after Cervical ESI?

Hi everyone,
I'm new to the forums and this is my first post. I have searched around a bit and read through some previous posts (kind of) on the subject, but wanted to ask outright anyway...sorry if this is 'beating a dead horse'.

I have a herniated disc at C4/C5 and had my first cervical ESI earlier today-this morning. I really expected some amount of pain in my neck today and the days to come...what I did not expect was the intense back pain I'm currently experiencing. Why I have an injection in my neck and it feels A-OK (its relative) and now my low back feels like I've been kicked by a mule I don't understand.

Any bit of insight into this/advice regarding pain relief/anything really would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you in advance and thank you for having me here at the forums!

-Dave

Re: Intense Back Pain after Cervical ESI?

dave, that does sound weird to me too. I've had several cervical ESIs and yeah my neck was really sore my never the lumbar region. can you look in the mirror is there any redness or swelling there? just wondering. I'd keep ice on it 20 min every hr or so (towel around ice) and see if that helps I'd be icing the neck as well and if it still bothers you in the am call the doc. if it gets really bad I'd go to the ER. cj

Re: Intense Back Pain after Cervical ESI?

I hadn't thought to look in the mirror, brilliant. As soon as I muster the strength to stand up again that's first on my list. I'll give the ice a go too. Thank you so much for the help/insight/concern. Means a lot!
