| I got left 3rd occipital nerve block and cervical ESI finally!
Wow, that was really more than I imagined. I got the cervical ESI injected first and it was extremely painful due to the narrow space and swelling, I was pretty oblivious to the head shot that came next due to the pain/pressure in my neck. However 3 days after and I am almost willing to try it again if necessary (with sedation next time!) I am already noticing improvement of radiculopathy symptoms. The 3rd occipital nerve block (aka head shot) was unplanned...the doc asked me if I wanted him to "fix" my headache too, so uh duh I said yes! The initial numbing pain relief was heavenly, but I got the injections Monday at 3pm and woke up Wednesday morning with a goose egg where they shot me in the head. It wasn't swollen like that when I first got it. Now on Thursday it is still swollen (slightly more than yesterday) and I am aware of the discomfort all the time, not just when it is touched. Tipping my head back, bending over, anything that bumps it obviously hurts but also anything that increases pressure in my head. I am wondering if the delayed reaction is normal. Could it have been placed wrong and the fluid is just sitting in one spot? No fever or drainage that I can notice. I called the doc, now playing phone tag with his PA. I assume it is not that big a deal, but since this is my first time I wanted to see if anyone else had similar experience. Thanks!
