Hot flashes? Help...

I feel like I am going crazy. Ugh. I have never had this symptom in the 9 years I have had panic disorder. But now it has hit me hard.
Hot flashes. I don't know of "flashes" is the best way it describe it though. Because since it started tonight it has not stopped. I feel very warm. Like I am going to pass out I am so hot. My skin feels warm "inside" if that makes sense.
(This is hard to explain, sorry) But at the same time I am cold. I get goosebumps. I am doing everything I can to avoid the hot feeling but then I freeze at the same time. I am taking my temperature every hour and it is always around 97.5 degrees. This is so FRUSTRATING and scary!
If remember reading that you don't get "new" anxiety symptoms so I am finding it hard to think this is just panic disorder.
Has anyone been through this? I could really use some advice right now.
Thanks so much!

Michele

I don't know where you read that but panic disorder is an Elusive culprit. It is like a shift changer and is only your brain playing tricks on you. You may have the same symptoms for years and then your chemistry changes just like the chemical imblance you have and something new starts. I just responded to a post about "Hot" body feelings and I get this quite often. I also get the freezing symptoms. Sometimes the hot is like burning and the cold is like a frozen feeling of a limb or limbs, my stomach area or other. Sometimes I run a low body temperature and sometimes a fever. Other times I have hot and cold as you speak of and my temperature is normal. I have had every test that you can probably name and it all boils down to panic disorder. Calm down and ride it out. I have had the sensation that I was going to pass out and that was only when I fought the symptoms and fear took over. If it makes you feel better, go to your Doctor and tell him about this. I have found this only to be a shift in panic symptoms and as soon as I tell my Doctor these symptoms tend to go away. I just write everything off as panic disorder as much as I can because they can never find nothing wrong with me and it always passes. When you get this sensation, lie down and relax an let it pass. What medications are you taking, if I may ask? Please post back you are not alone with these symptoms by any means.

I don't know where you read that either. Panic masks itself in many ways, you can get over one symptom & another will come to take its place.
I get chills like I'm cold, but also feel feverish many times a week. Sometimes I think it's a side affect of my meds, but who knows.
Are you taking any meds for panic? If so, it could be a side affect of the meds.

Re: Hot flashes? Help...

Thanks for the replies. I'm not taking any meds. I have tried taking a few different meds over the past few months but I am so sensitive to them that it's almost easier to live with the panic than it is to deal with the side effects!
I forgot where I read about panic symptoms staying the same, but I guess that was wrong!!
I go to my doctor when I feel some unsettling new symptom but she tells me "it's just anxiety" and doesn't run any type of test. ugh.
I have been under quite a bit of stress lately, so I guess I will just chalk this up to anxiety. I wish it was easy for me to write off as it is other people.
This symptom os really bothering me though. I feel like I am so hot I am going to pass out. Even my skin is warm to the touch and I am sweaty but my tempertaure is no where near a fever. I also feel shaky and weak but I guess that's anxiety too. Fun fun.

Smile Re: Hot flashes? Help...

It is alright to check yourself out every now and then for blood pressure or temperature but don't get in a habit of jumping right to the thought that you need to do this with every sensation. This will only lead to a compulsion and doing so, causes even more panic and anxiety. Be good
