Adrenaline rushes

Ugh, can't get rid of these adrenaline rushes. Some are slight and some are quite strong. Shouldn't the meds have helped with that(I was on Effexor(37.5mg) for 2 months then Paxil(30mg) for 3 months. I am now on Zoloft(just started). I don't go into a full blown panic attack but I feel like crap all day long. I feel nervous, sometimes cold, sometimes hot, my face feels flushed, feels like my back is on fire, I get lightheaded and feel faint. Plus the surges of adrenaline. Certainly there has to be something medically(other than anxiety) wrong with me.

So, what disorders cause adrenaline rushes-I generally feel them in my chest, arms and back. Sometimes I feel it on my skin-my skin actually feels tingly and weird-uncomfortable. I get the chills and shake(no fever), then I will feel hot. This can go on all day and all night, to the point that I don't get any sleep-which is why I am up at 2am right now.
My Dr has done a lot of blood work(and I mean A LOT) and everything checks out fine(other than a few but I know the reasons).

If this is ALL anxiety--I need an incredibly strong drug...

Re: Adrenaline rushes

Hi Abby
, I had many of your problems, especially the chills
they can be caused by stress and anxiety and/or the early side effects of antidepressant meds
some valium with the zoloft, until it starts working properly may help a lot

if and when the zoloft works, most of your problems should stop, due to the reduction of stress

try to relax and not worry, also breathe deep and slow and get some gentle exercise

Re: Adrenaline rushes

I get something similar. Sometimes if I think about a certain topic I'll get a really strange, rippling feeling in my chest and you can almost feel the adrenaline pumping down your arms and around your body. It's quite scary. It goes on most of the day and I am usually very fatigued and sleepy, ready for bed by 5-6pm lol.

Your symptoms sound like typical anxiety to me. Sometimes when you're like this all day you just want to have a panic attack just to get it over and done with because you feel like you are on the brink of one all day long.

Re: Adrenaline rushes

I don't think it is anything but anxiety. I feel the exact same thing, it started just a little over a year ago. I've been to everyone I can think of, a cardiologist, nurologist, I've had my thyroid tested, and even my hormones. I did chart what times were worse in the month and I found mine followed my cycle. I know how you feel and the only thing that really helps me is keeping my mind on other things, and telling myself I can deal. Sometimes it does get overwhelming, but the lexapro has helped me (I'm currently getting off of it to get pregnant, so we shall see.....)

Re: Adrenaline rushes

I take a beta blocker which actually stops the release of adrenalin in your body.
