I have been suffering from panic for over 10 years just opted to take meds and now I am feeling worse than I did before. I know I had a traumatic life experience passing of mom and since that time I have had constant panic.
I have tried mostly everything therapy, relaxtion never mastering anything but now on meds and feeling worse. I feel like this stress is causing my body to suffer my blood pressure is concerning it can go as high as 174/99 my cholestrol has been high in the past its okay right now but I just don't know what to do. Maybe nothing is what I should be doing does anyone have any advice on something that has worked for them a combination of something. Please let me know so I can try it I am so tired of worrying about dieing of heart attack, stroke or something else I can't even tell you I just don't know how to stop. LOST

If you've just started the meds I've heard it's normal for it to actually make the anxiety worse at first. I think it's something like for the first two weeks. Same thing with anti-depressant stuff.

I say give it a good few weeks before you decide to stop. Then see where you're at.

Sometimes it just doesn't work. And you have to try a different medication.

Meds can make anxiety worse at first but the long term benefits are worth it.

I know just how you feel, like you just want to quit but you can't. Everything I do revolves around the panic. Like, I can't just go grocery shopping. First I have to take my meds and wait for them to kick in, then usually wait at least an extra 45 minutes just to be safe. By that time I'm tired and just want to sleep but at least I am able to make it through the store as long as I have extra meds, water, and my cell phone with me. God, it is a pain in the (butt). Every time I think I made some progress I find that within a couple weeks that I'm just as bad off as I was before. It seems to be steadily getting worse and worse.
I know I sound like a total downer...just venting I guess.

Peacenlife...
Give the meds sometime to work. (about 2-4 weeks) If you do not feel better at that point try a different kind. Everyones body works different for different kinds of meds.
I have been a panic suffer for 20 years. Life will get better. I remember saying to myself many times, I will never feel good again. I have been on paxil for about 7 years and it has given me my life back. I remember I couldnt go out, driving was out of the question, really anything is out of the question. Some things I did do to help myself along with the meds was....Tell myself, I am OK OVER AND OVER Again....Before I went to bed, I would tell myself that and fall asleep telling myself IM OK. Another thing is trying to break the bad way of thinking...When your mind starts going down hill way of thinking try to break that pattern of thinking...Take baby steps for everything you do..When I started driving again, I would only drive on the right side of the road, so if I needed to pull over and catch my breath I could...Once I mastered that, I would drive of the left again..In a store, When I would feel the panic come on and my hands would be sweating I would slow down and Once again tell my self, everything is Ok and break that thinking pattern I have had for so many years. It is truly a mind game with yourself. Trust me, it does get a lot better, hang in there and find any mind game that will work for you...Good luck, I truly know how you are feeling.
