Afraid of meds - Panic Disorders Message Board

I have been diagnosed with PD and I have a drug phobia. I was prescribed Lexapro and Alprazolam to help my recovery, but I am too afraid to take them. It's quite the catch-22. Any suggestions? Thank you.

I was the same way. But once I got to taking the medication i felt better.

I would start the Xanax first for a few days to get that in your system and then the Lexapro.

I started out with Lexapro and klonopin and my pdoc had me get on the klonopin for 3 days before started the Lex. Talk to your doctor about it.

Ha your speaking to the girl who won't even take advil for a headache. I have no idea why I developed a medicine phobia. Might be the fact my sister was a drug addict and hooked on kolotapin. I have been trying to break the fear cycle. I actually took advil for the first time in years the other day. I was so proud of myself.

OH THANK YOU I AM SITTING HERE LOOKING AT 25 MGS of ZOLOFT AND HAVE AGORAPHOBIA AND PANIC DISORDER AND I AM ALSO AFRAID OF MEDS AND SCARED TO TAKE THEM>LET ME KNOW IF YOU GET AN ANSWER> NOW I AM MORE PANICKY DUE TO THIS.
