| Re: panic over swallowing
I've heard of this and have had it many times. It's terrifying and irrational, but to those of us who have experienced it, it is very real. If you want it to go away then you will need to learn how to live with it. By that I mean you need to accept the worse case scenario, that you will be unable to swallow, and realize that you are strong enough to adapt to a life without swallowing. In all likelihood simply having the confidence that you can deal with the worst case scenario will be sufficient to ward off any panic that might arise. I know it sounds like a mind game, but really panic only takes hold of you if you fear something. By believing that you can deal with anything that life throws at you, fear and anxiety becomes much less impactful. It takes a lot of work to build this confidence, but I promise you that if you are successful you're panic will slowly disappear.
