Angry Anxiety attacks , short of breath , tight chest the works,

Years ago I began having anxiety attacks and the only way to rid my body of them was to go to bed and sleep.

Now I seem to have these damm things every day.
I feel like a cat on a hot tin roof , I feel short of breath and really restless and wanting to pace the floor all day and night.

What causes these attacks to come on ?
They are dreadfull and the upset me so much.

Doctor put me on Lorasapam 1 mg 4 times aday.
They don't help much.

Hi Glenda,
Just like you it seems the only time I get any rest away from it is to sleep.Ive not been one to have Panic during sleep.This is the hardest most scariest thing I know of.May we all find peace and serenity soon.Take care

hi buy/loan some books on anxiety (claire weekes...good one!) get some relaxation tapes and DO them everyday religiously!! set some time for yourself everyday when u will not be disturbed...... you must do them religiously, it wont work over night but it will work when you let yourself relax and go with the flow l promise good luck

I have other health issues going on too.
Acid reflux , irrtable bowel syndrome , and the worst of all > Neurofibromatosis (A tumor disorder).

A bad combination of things to give me anxiety attacks.

But what brings them on ?

it's like flipping a light switch on .

There's time I start crying I am so upset.

glenda l feel for you sorry about your other illnesses stress can irate ibs, indegestion type disorders.. sorry l cant help you with the tumour anxiety, basically anxiety is a wot l call an overdose of adrenalin in the blood stream sending signals to various parts of the body, the rush makes you shake, get palpatations, stomach wanting to empty, or wee, sweat etc the more you think about havin an attack the more likely you are to bring 1 on. l suppose the trick is to trick your brain into thinking of something pleasant, put the anxiety away occupy yourself. l know its horrible but with some good relaxation, breathing exercises etc you can prevent a full blown attack when you feel its about to happen. l know how you feel ive been there. l havnt had an attack forover a year and a half, ive been close but lve learnt to manage it. speak to your doctor about the tumour and ask if you are having the attacks through your meds or the tumour or the worry of the tumour. feel free to talk to me and if l can help you l will. please get some books or attend anxiety managment classes if your doctor can arrange it, it really helps been educated it makes it less scary and easier to manage take care thinking of you
