Exclamation doing it drug-free

Hello everyone! I've been suffering from panic disorders for seven years now. My attacks are usually triggered by social phobia. I'm starting school again and it's usually around this time when I get the most attacks. I usually get the works, trouble breathing, swallowing, etc, and oddly enough a big urge to pee all the time (not very cool when you got to get up every 15 minutes in class).

I used to control these with meds like zoloft which I hated to be on or ativan which was better for me. The thing is I'm starting school again and I've got no support from meds this year (I decided to cut zoloft and my doc doesn't want to prescribe the ativan). Do you guys have any tips how I could reduce or eliminate the symptoms without the drugs????? Thanks guys!

hi mcp, try breathing exercises, it wont help over night as these have to be learnt. your body is tense and has forgotten how to relax, you must practise for any benefit the benefits are amazing. also get yourself some relaxation exercise tapes set some time each day to be alone and undisturbed and stick with it, this helps no ends...... clears your head helps you breath easily relaxs your body and mind. the reason you get these symptoms is due to 'flight or fight' (adrenalin) peeing ( or pooing) is one of the bodies ways of making the body lighter ready for flight or fight, l learnt this through my anxiety managment classes, all the symptoms you get are the bodies natural response to deal with flight or fight. good luck

I second the motion on niecsey's suggestion. The "deep belly breathing" has truly been my saving grace in a few instances.
Best regards and hope you will let us know how you're doing.

I know it's hard to be on time for everything, but try and not put yourself in a position that your late and rushing. That is when I find myself having alot of trouble. If I'm late to something I begin to panic and rush and before I know it PANIC!! So slow down and make time!!
Good Luck and God Bless!!
