Post Panic Attack or not?

Hi everyone ^^ sorry havent been around i havent been feeling to good.....

Well, today around 6pm my time, i was on the phone with my mother. We were talking about how she just moved and she was telling me about the lady who lived there first. Well like 10mins into the convesation, I started to feel really lightheaded, and then my chest got a heavy feeling and my breathing became shallow. And then my mind felt like it was going to black out, my vision got blurry and then i felt as if i was dying, my heart started to race very fast, and then my feet, legs, arms and everywhere else back jittery, i was shaking alot. I couldnt take it. I felt so scared. I felt sick and i felt as if i was dying. Im scared now.....i mean if i was going to die, wouldnt it have happened already?

Panic attack! Those were all the symptoms I get and yes you feel like your dying. Go to a doc and tell him about it. I take Ativan for mine and it works wonders I take it when I feel one coming and its gone before it gets a chance to get full blown. Some docs give Ativan as a preventative too as in 1 a day or something. I just take mine "as needed"

Hi, and yes those were definite signs of a Panic attack and one should really be on soemthing regularily for that such as Celexa, Paxil, Zoloft, Luvox, Effexor-XR, or any other SSRI medication on a on going basis in my opinion.

Taking Ativan is not going to solve any problems as it is very attictive and masks the brains ability to learn to cope where as SSRI medication nallows you to seek therapy for it and at the same time take them and keep things under control while your brain learns.

Benzos with the eceptionof Clonazapam are not the route as far as I'm concerned. Talk to your doctor about an SSRI medication such as any of the ones I mentioned.

Good luck.
Nick

ScaredHolly - I agree with Autumn. See your doctor and tell him/her exactly what you just posted in here. Ask him/her about Ativan and the possibility of getting some.. like 0.5mg tablets. Hang in there SH.

Meridien - Not everyone has the same effects with Ativan. MAYBE those who take it every single day like 3 times a day may have a problem getting off it but like Autumn said, she takes it only when she needs it.. and that may not be every day. I've been prescribed Ativan for over 5 years and I'm no where near addicted. I take it VERY seldom, only when I need it.. and sometimes I can go a whole month without taking one.

I like your question, because I am not sure exactly what a panic attack is either?
I get the feeling that is might mean different things for different people?

For me, I get the adrenaline rush, my heart races; my breathing is shallow and rapid. I can break out in a sweat. My muscles get tight then feel heavy or fatigued. I do get a little shaky, I feel very nervous and scared and sick and like I can not take it. It usually lasts for only 2-10 minutes.

I do not know if that is a panic attack, but that is what I call it

So I agree with the others, talk to your doctor about it.

I might feel like you are going to die, but realize that you are not and that you can take steps to try and get control over these attacks.

I wish you good luck
