My Heart Skips Beats, Is it Panic Disorder? - Panic Disorders Message Board

hey , wats up people?, i suffer from panic attacks, i get rapid heart beat i feel very nervous etc., but i wanna know if anyone out there suffers from the skipping beats?, i'm very affraid, i don't wanna die just yet, even when i drive i get irregular heart beats, while watching a movie or whatever, it just skips beats without me even panicing. when i play sports i get it, please help, i need some answers. thank you all.

everyone gets skipped heart beats ...everyone..
if that doesnt help then go see a doctor ...
but i get that all the time even when i aint doing nothing , it comes unexpected and it scares me ..
once i had it happen to me like 3 times with in 5 minutes that is scary ..
but my doc says its anxiety and panic ..
and some times it just happend but go see ur doc for reasurrance

Please try not to be afraid.

I've had panic attacks off and on for over half my life.
Yes, I get the rapid heartbeat and also the skipped beats.

I've been to the emergency room over and over again, and everytime they do a cardiogram and tell me my heart is fine.
I know in my heart...no pun intended...that it's nothing more than my panic attacks, I just can't make my head believe it.
Once they tell me my heart is okay, then I feel fine.

Do they come on even when you aren't thinking about them?
Mine only seem to happen when I think about it.

I also have a back problem and my chiropractor tells me that some of it is coming from that.

Do you take medication for your attacks?
I take Xanax, one a day.
I've been told that I can take up to two, but I fight so hard not to take that second pill.
Especially now, for some reason the attacks seem to have gone into overdrive.
I really think that winter makes them worse!!!
At least mine get much worse in the winter.

My advice is to go to your Dr. and talk to him about the problem.
Maybe you'll be like me, once your told that it's not your heart you'll feel better.

hey Romano, thank u for your reply, i already saw a doctor, they made me run on the mill for about 15 minutes, everything went ok, but the next day, i was walking through the avenue and my heart beat began skipping beats for about three minutes, it scared me sooo much that i decided to go home. i wanted to get home just in case i get a heart attack. i then didn;t wanna talk to anyone or have any contact with anyone, but since that day i've been feeling very moody. i sometime get up to use the bathroom and feel a big rush to my head , my heart starts to pound hard on my chest, even when i try using the bathroom, i sit down and i feel my heart starting to race fast. do u have these simptoms also? please let me know, anyone, thank you.

Skipping heartbeats, racing heartbeats - they're typical symptoms of stress or anxiety. I've been treating with my doctor for years and I still get them. Everyone's heart skips or races but people with anxiety seem to be more aware of it - "Cardiac Awareness" some people call it. Talk to your doctor. Medication or counseling could help you. Let us know how you're doing. There are lots of people going through the same thing you are. Hang in there.
