Red face Had to go to the ER

Well, here I am again...this morning I was just getting ready to go to town and all of the sudden I had an unusal high heart rate (I am also on an event monitor) so I pushed to button and it recorded my ekg and I called and let them listen to the recordings and they said that I needed to go ahead and do another reading and by then I was really nervous, so of course they said that they were going to send the readings to my doctor...they would not tell me anything else...so I then called the doctor and spoke to the nurse and he stated that I needed to go to the ER, that my heart rate had hit 150...so by then I was really nervous and went on in and guess what? NOTHING WRONG WITH MY HEART... I had been doing soo good for the last couple of weeks and I guess for some reason I don't know why but got anxious about something...
Why does this happen...FYI, qhile in the ER, when I was resting, my pulse was like 53-57, which they said was normal for a healthy 33 year old...what do you guy's do when your pulse rate sky rockets?
Any help would be greatly appreiciated..

This is going to sound so stupid and simple, but it works for me.
Whenever my heart starts to beat to fast and I want to calm myself down, I count backwards from 300.
I don't know, I guess I'm just so busy concentrating on counting that it calms me down and my heart rate goes back to normal.

I have a friend who also suffers from panic attacks and her Dr. told her that when her heart starts to race that she should bear down...like when you're having a baby or a bowel movement.
I know it sounds strange, but she says it works for her.
I've never tried that one myself.

Hey, when I had my first major attack, i was in the ER and just laying there my heart rate got up to 190! i was freaked, i dont even rally remember hardly anything...It felt like a heartattack...but it was just from my mind wandering to much...and all the machines and stuff...but I calmed down and it went down...normal rate is like 80 or 90 i believe. i was real scared, felt like i was gonna die...i had an ekg, and then later a heart echo to make sure I didnt have micro valve prolaps i believe it was called...and all tests came out fine with my heart. So since then I've learned to control myself better, or its the medication haha. goodluck

It's called mitral valve prolapse (MVP). Do you have it? There's an unusually high correlation statistically between panic and MVP though they're unable to determine whether they're connected or not but noticed the connection about 20 years ago I believe. I do have it and have had a murmur since birth. What about anyone else out there? I'd be very curious to get a feel for the number of people with panic and MVP both.
