I just started xanax, after the doctor took me off of Buspar b/c of the side-effects. I, like you, enjoy a few beers during the week and usually go out one of the days of the weekend. I spoke to my pharmacist about drinking and xanax and she said not to do it, and this was also reitterated in all the warnings about xanax. If you do, you could pass-out and die. Not worth a few beers to me. However, the pharmacist did say that xanax stays in your system for 8-12 hours so if you are planning on drinking that night, just don't take it during the day. I only take xanax when I feel a panic coming on and sometimes at night so it's not a big deal to me. However, the problem is sometimes when I drink, I get a panic attack and then, I must suffer through it as I can't take the xanax. Cheers!
