I have been on remeron 60mg for 3 years. Occasionally I will take a 1/2 mg xanax for flying etc. When I do I notice the colors are brighter, my sence of touch, taste, and smell is increased. I know this could be the xanax working but I am woundering if remeron has been dulling me down over the years. Anyone have opinions on this?

I havent heard of this before, your remeron dose is high, why are you taking it and do you still need to be on it?

Thanks for responding. Yea, Its high. I still need it. My panic attacks I'm told are genetic (sister, brother, great aunts, etc). My attacks generally happen when I am relaxed and not stressed. I still feel them occuring but they are very mild. I was just raised to 60mg because I felt the symtoms increasing in intensity. It may be time for me to switch to another med. Not sure yet. I was just curious if the Rem60 was dulling my sences or was that the wounder of xanax amplifying them.

i dont know the answer but it seems the usual max for remeron is 45mg.
remeron is a tetracyclic antidepressant, one of the SSRI type could be tried such as paxil if you swap

panic attacks often run in familys, my grandmother had them, so did I and now my nerphew has them
