Question does the feeling ever go away

i believe what i have is panic attacks.
i have not seen a doctor yet cuz i am scared of taking medication. i have been having these attacks for a long time now. i can't remember the last time i felt "normal". my last attack was about a week ago. i used to beable to shake it off and go on about my life. but over the years it has gotten worse. i am scared to drive because it happened once while driving. everyday i feel my head is foggy i can't think straight i don't sleep at night because of this . does this ever go away? what medications are the best? i want to know what i am in for when i go to see my doctor. i am tired of these feelings. i want my life back.

Hi there,

I was afraid of meds too. So I suffered for a very long time and ended up hospitalized several times because of it. My breaking point was about 6 weeks ago, my Dh left for the police academy and I had to be strong enough for my 3 kids. I went to the doc and he put me on Paxil . I could feel the difference within one week. I'm a totally different person. I go to sleep at night right away. No more laying in bed having wave after wave of attacks.

Taking that first pill was the hardest thing for me, but after a week I was fine with it and now I make darn sure that I don't miss a dose.

Goodluck and I hope you find some relief soon!!

Mindy

i don't think i actually asked the question i wanted to in my last post.
after you have a panic attack does the feeling of unreality ever go away? most days i feel like my head is not connected to my body is this a normal thing with panic? and can u please tell me about the medications? my husband was on Paxil a few months back for depression which was caused from a colon surgery he had and it made him a zombie i don't want to feel like that. thank you i am sure i will think of other things to ask once i am done here.

paxil often makes people feel worse at first

look up derealisation and depresonalisation on the net via a search engine, also a related condition called lightheadedness

these can effect you most of the time, meds help, also squeeze somethimg sharp in your hand, keys, etc and concentrate on the pain, this often reduces it a while

deep slow breathing also helps
